Renske Boef was born in the Netherlands in 1975. She is now living in the west of Ireland where she practices her art.  From 2005 she has worked with several community groups on projects such as public murals. She has facilitated Connemara Crayons, a weekly children’s art workshop, for the past 15 years. She has worked on many commissions for portraits and paintings. In 2018 she decided to go back into education to develop her personal practice further and obtained her level 6 in Drawing Visual Enquiry at GTI Galway in 2019.  She is currently in her final year of her honours degree in Contemporary Art at ATU Creative Centre for Arts and Media. Renske enjoys working with themes of the human condition and her work largely consists of drawings and paintings in oils and acrylics. Since lockdown she started working from an archive of old family photographs of her family in the Netherlands and has focused on the overload of images in our society and how images affect our memory.
